It is Monday morning, the first day of June. The air is cool and the water of the creek is percolating over and under stones. All life is moving more slowly today, inside the cabin and outside. The path to the dirt road is soft and cool. Birds to the left sing a short repetitive melody. Birds to the right answer. Between the call of the male and the answer of a female, a distant rooster crows. The knock of the woodpecker echoes against the walls of the mountains. Moist sand on bare feet feels solid and also soft and comforting. One deep breath reveals a living green aroma surrounding the walker. There is a connection between the child of God and the forest for God’s peace rests here.
In the book of Daniel, chapter 12, a heavenly being told Daniel about the future of kingdoms. His description was specific. Most of the events he foretold have indeed come to pass, but some have not. In the following, he seems to speak of a time in our future:
“Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise.”
Michael was one name that the heavenly being specifically mentioned. The description of Michael was one of a warrior and an agent of heaven. That would be an angel, but not an angel of the type we see in paintings and in advertising. Michael would be an angel of the type we find in the Bible.
In the last days, the Jewish people will be assisted by Michael, a strong captain of angel armies. It is now June 2020 and the saber rattling around Israel is increasing. But the covenant between God and those who love Him is one of peace and lovingkindness.
As faithful followers of Jesus, we have access to God’s peace and lovingkindness. We can rest in the knowledge that God has already prepared an answer to the enemies of His people.
I pray for peace in Jerusalem and in the United States. It is my guess that we are seeing a foreshadow of things to come when God’s wrath finally destroys sin and idol worship.
The United States is experiencing an increase in racially charged civil unrest, which appears staged. Yes, the riots appear to be well-planned dramas, scripted to increase stress levels in government and to increase fear in the public. Is this a foreshadow of the red horse of Revelation 6?
Israel is seeing an increase in threats against its nation. Not one, but two men – Gantz and Netanyahu – have sworn to protect Israel. Are those the two witnesses of Revelation 11?
And I struggle with understanding why God permits violence. Really. And why does the Jewish nation not understand that their messiah has come?
But this I know for sure:
We do not serve a God of fear and chaos. We serve a God of peace and justice. He does show His wrath, but He protects those who love Him.
God is ready. He is ready with judgment on His enemies. He is ready with lovingkindness for those who seek Him.
Dear reader, it is my prayer that we all seek the mercy and the peace of God. If you do not know Jesus, now is a good time to simply say aloud, that you wish to turn from your current path, that you seek and accept God’s peace and that you believe Jesus to be the only begotten son of God.
